Pakistani actress Zoya Nasir has disagreed with veteran actress Saba Faisal’s controversial remarks about divorced women, saying that women should not feel ashamed of ending a marriage when there is no other way forward.
Speaking on the programme Gup Shab, Zoya addressed Saba’s statement suggesting that divorce had become too casual and that, in the past, fathers felt ashamed when their daughters separated from their husbands.
Zoya expressed respect for Saba as an artist and acknowledged her supportive nature but said she did not agree with her views on divorce.
According to Zoya, some women choose divorce only when they feel they have no other option. She argued that neither a divorced woman nor her father should be expected to carry a sense of shame over the decision.
The actress also highlighted the emotional impact of divorce, explaining that the experience can be deeply painful for a woman. She stressed the importance of healing and rebuilding one’s life after the end of a marriage.
Zoya’s comments bring attention to the emotional challenges women may face after divorce and the importance of treating them with understanding rather than judgment.
